Baule Mask (1)

This mask originates from the Ivory Coast and is made by the Baule people.

They are hand-made from wood.  Typical features include arched eyebrows and downcast eyes. In African tradition to cast one’s eyes down represents respect and humility, especially when addressing an elder or someone of a higher social status than you.

These masks come on a custom made stand and are 50-60cms tall (including stand).
